Yesterday I was given my 30 day notice at work that they're laying me off. My entire department is being relocated to another state and everyone I work with is out of a job right before Christmas. There is no relocation option for us, there is no being transferred to another department. If we wanted to stay with the company, we'd have to apply for jobs just like every other person out there. Sure we might get special consideration and be fast-tracked through the application process, but there was no guarantee.
Now me, I'm not too worried, I've always been one to just go with the flow. I have faith that things will work out ok, at least for the near future. I'll be "working" until December 19th. After that I get 10 weeks of severance pay. Beyond that, I've got money available from my father's estate. It's not the ideal situation, but with cost cutting and creative money management, I'll be ok for a while.
I do plan on looking for another job, but I gotta stick with it here till the end to make sure I get that severance money. Of course, while I'm getting severance pay, I won't be able to collect unemployment. It makes sense, I'm still getting income. At the same time, I'll be unemployed.
I've got a friend who says his company is hiring. It sounds like a pretty decent gig, but it pays less than I'm making now. I think I could live on a smaller budget, especially once I get my last credit card paid off. It would be a significant drop in pay. Of course, I can't be sure that I'd even get that job.
So what's my plan? For now, I'm just gonna ride this out, till Thanksgiving. After that, I'll shoot my resume off to my friend, post it up around the job sites, network, etc. Then I'll hope for the best. I'll start applying to other jobs as well, but really, what company is going to hire someone right before Christmas?
Once my 30 days (29 as of me writing this!) is up and I'm not working, I'll be focusing on YouTube again, increase my daily gaming videos. I may also start a daily vlog talking about my job search and such. Outside of that, there's a lot of resources out there that can help me earn some small amounts of cash. I could setup something on Fiverr, maybe start turking, and could always pick up some temp work on Craigslist.
Course, what I'd love to have happen is finding my way in the YouTube world. Nothing would make me happier than to be able to earn a living from making content people love to watch. I have ideas and plans on what I can do to improve. I have new series I want to start, as well as some old stuff I'd like to pick back up. There's a lot of games I have yet to play that have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for me to have time to play them.
And now comes the time when beg and plead for your help. Nah, I'm not gonna do that. I'll make it. If I have to I'll work two or even three jobs. I'm not going down without a fight! But, with saying that, I'm not one to turn down a helping hand. So, let me just drop you this link. . . . Munchmo on Patreon

Part 3 of The Inheritance is Finally Done!
And damn, it was a lot of work! I went through many hours of footage to put this together, and if I had it all to do again, I think I might have done things differently. I'm really proud about how the video turned out though, so I'm glad I put in all the effort.
Making this video has definitely given me some ideas for how to film future endeavors. I need to learn to be more patient when filming still or panning shots. A nice slow pan across a room can do wonders!
I've still got a lot more videos to put together. I've got a special video coming next week, plus I still have to get my Maker Faire video done, as well as put together a video from my trip to Nova Scotia.
Thanks again for supporting me!

It sure has been a while
Wow, I've been so busy making videos and stuff that I've kinda neglected this place. I haven't really written any new turtle scripts, so I don't have anything to publish on that front. But what I do have is a topic to talk about, and that topic is FTB Ultimate pack. There is talk of wanting to switch the server from Mindcrack to Ultimate, and I almost think we should. I'm not sure what will happen when/if we do though. If I can change the server over without having to restart the world, I might do it. If we have to start over though, there's no way.
Not every player on the server has weighed in, but I think most will be ok going along with whatever I decide. I know I'd love to get Mystcraft back, even though I barely touched it back in beta. I've looked at the mods we'd gain and lose and I'm not sure what to think. There's still no release date on Ultimate, but there's a beta version out people can try. I'd love to hear your opinions on it if you have any.

Voting closing soon
It's Wednesday again and time to get your votes in for this week's episode is almost over. I've got another video uploading now, hardcore is going well so far. Keeping one video a day isn't as hard as I thought it would be.
Tomorrow I'll get the newest Meandering up, and will keep filling in the week with Hardcore. Saturday you should get a new Mo' Angels 'n Creepers, and Monday should be another Mining with Munchmo. I might even get a special up on Friday if they release the new version of Minecraft tomorrow.
Until then, keep playing!

Well, that's ok then
So, the Youtube uploader is being dumb. It won't upload a video at all in Firefox, but in Chrome it is uploading, but not showing any progress at all. Because of this, I was at least able to get the two videos I had out there. So you can be happy to have a new Mining with Munchmo and a new Mo' Angels 'n Creepers.
I've also got a new episode of Hardcore uploading now which should be available to you guys a little later today, and I am going to see if I can get a new video up every day for the next week or two.
On a side note, Bukkit still hasn't got a Recommended build for their server yet, so I'm still in 1.1 in Mining with Munchmo, but I'm keeping with 1.2.3 for Meandering and Hardcore. I haven't found a reason to update Mo' Angels 'n Creepers yet, so that's still at 1.0.
Also of note, we might have a new version of Minecraft this week per Jeb's tweet. This can be a good or bad thing, might mean it will take even longer for Bukkit to get an RB out for the server, but it'll also hopefully fix some of the glaring bugs in 1.2.3.

1.2? 1.2.2? 1.2.3!
So the newest version of Minecraft has been released! First thing I did was install the Minecraft Profile Manager. This tool is a great way to keep multiple versions of Minecraft installed and running. I used to use many different users on my computer, one for each of the versions of Minecraft I was running. But now I can just have a single icon I click and choose whether I want to play my modded version of 1.0, or 1.1 for my Bukkit server, or 1.2.3 for my vanilla server.
And just like I said I would, I started my new Hardcore season. Boy, if the season keeps going the way it has, it will be a short one. I think I'm going to record my hardcore more than once per week, maybe fill in the gaps between the other shows, so 2 or 3 episodes every week. If this season does end soon, I plan on starting up another one right away, but I think the newest patch to 1.2 is going to really help me survive a bit longer.
I'm nearly done with the spider farm, it has been a huge project and I'm glad it's finally almost over.

Another weekly snapshot
So, there have already been two snapshots released today, the second being a huge bugfix from the first. This one adds things like waves of zombies sieging villages, villagers reproducing to make up for the deaths overnight, increased world height, and light sources that can be turned on and off with redstone!
I don't have a video yet, but I should have one up in just a few hours showing off some of this cool stuff. Have you found anything interesting in the snapshot I missed?
More information and the official download can be found here

Just another update
So, Bukkit finally released an updated version to work with 1.8.1. I've got my server updated and moved the new world into it. I've started feeling better, so less coughing and sniffling. I am planning on doing another video tonight, but I think it might have to be another special edition since there is already a pre-release of 1.9 out! I'll likely throw together a single player game and run around in it giving my impressions of the updated content. Once 1.9 (and for that matter, 1.10) is officially released, I'll probably start a new world again for it. Because of that, the current project I'm planning on undertaking in the new world that was created for 1.8 might be put off until we're not expecting a major update soon.
